SanDisk iXpand 64GB Flash Drive works VERY well, but with serious glitches. As of late April, 2017, SanDisk says it’s working to fix its app to address it. Here’s the problem: the app displays only a fraction of the photos you want to copy. You’ll scroll through screens of black with only an occasional thumbnail here and there.
The photos are there. Just tap on the black part of the screen and then more photos under that date will appear. Scroll, tap black, scroll, tap black. More photos WILL appear. It’s a pain, but it’s a work around.
I went ahead and did a test transfer of nearly 700 photos and videos. They transferred seamlessly in less than 5 minutes. The phone rang in the middle of it and I took a call. The app resumed where it was when I hung up.
If you use auto backup to backup your iPhone day after day, SanDisk iXpand 64GB Flash Drive jumbles the photos with seemingly random names. Nothing is in order. It strips away all GPS Location information out of the metadata. This is a major drawback and the reason I’m lowering my review. It’s a complete mess to reorganize hundreds of photos I took on a trip.

Plug iXpand into USB port on my iMac. All the photos were there. Again, it worked just as advertised. I transferred some videos from my iMac to the SanDisk iXpand 64GB Flash Drive, then plugged iXpand into my iPhone 6s and the videos played perfectly. The app is easy to understand.
Every single time you plug the iXpand into your phone it will pop up a message asking for permission to communicate with your phone. There seems to be no way to get it to ‘remember’ that permission and stop that pop-up. There are two SanDisk iXpand apps in the iTunes app store. Only “SanDisk iXpand Drive” works with this hook-shaped version of iXpand. There is another app called “SanDisk iXpand Sync” which is for a different model.
Sanjay Agarwal: Transferring files between a MacBook or laptop and the iPhone is always a bit of a hassle. You have to turn Bluetooth /airdrop on, or you have to email the file to yourself, which is a bit of a problem if you don’t have access to wifi. SanDisk iXpand 64GB Flash Drive makes such transfers very easy. It was easy to setup and share files between MacOS, iOS as well as Windows. You can share any files, not just pics.
Of course the added bonus is that you can free up space on your iPhone (if needed) by transferring or copying files to this drive. And if you are in a hurry, you can download your work directory to this drive and work on it plugged to your iPhone. SanDisk iXpand 64GB Flash Drive connects with USB and lightening connector phone. The quirky curve is actually designed to allow you to use the iPhone while this is plugged in.
Shilpa: As you can imagine using iPhone means compromising on memory but with this product my Dad happily sails through his daily activities with better responding iPhone, 🙂 no more frustration with deleting umpteen pics that are sent by some crazy users on WhatsApp. On a serious note the product does what it’s supposed to do and we are happy users.

SKS: SanDisk iXpand 64GB Flash Drive is good pen-drive. but no use of it actually in ipad pro because it can transfer only pictures and video files..it cant handle doc files like pdf, doc, xls etc.
K of Georgia: I got this flash drive in the mail yesterday and so far, I am loving it!!! I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because there’s no cover for the USB end which would be nice to keep dust and lint out of it while it tumbles around in my bag but besides that, it does what it advertises.
I ordered a more expensive drive a few weeks ago and was disappointed because it wouldn’t work while my iPhone case was on. This flash drive worked like a dream with my Otterbox case still on the phone! It downloaded the pics A LOT faster than my other wifi methods of backing up pics. It worked perfectly when I plugged into my computer and could see my files.
The only thing that I didn’t like but it’s no big deal is that the pictures group by month so it’s a bunch of sub-folders by month instead of just one file of pics. No biggie, that’s just a personal preference of mine. Some may like that. I bought this for myself but am seriously thinking this would make a great gift for my sister who’s daily life causes her to use her phone camera all the time as well.

LW: The idea is a good one, but it does not fulfill the promises of SanDisk iXpand 64GB Flash Drive description. Using on an iPhone 7Plus running latest iOS (11.4). The phone recognized the drive and promoted download of the app. App runs, drive recognized.
It’s the actual backing up of my photos where the unit fails miserably. The full backup acted like it was happening, but had copied no photos after it said it was complete. Ran it again, copying 756 photos. 20 minutes pass of leaving the app active still no progress. So I tried to just download 2. It took almost 3 minites, but it downloaded 2.
At this point I removed the unit, retarded my phone and tried again. No difference. It is faster to turn on my computer and back up my photos there than it is to use this unit. I’m going to surf Sandisk support to see if I find any options, but likely I will return this for refund. Disappointed also because I have always liked Sandisk SD cards and flash drives; they failed on this product though.
